Hardcover with hard box case. Beautiful excellent condition. Copyright 1939 by Dodd, Mead and Company, Inc. New York. Printed in USA. 10" x 10.5"

It was a Caldecott Honor Book in 1938.

The inside front cover says "Grateful acknowledgement is made to Societe de Saint Jean L'Evangeliste for permission to use rhythmic signs of solesmes. The page facing this has a drawing of a young girl who is working on a drawing, and above her are the words "Dedicated to Giannina Mangravite". The Ageless Story begins with a retelling of the legend of Saint Anne, who was supposedly the virgin mother of Mary, followed by a Biblical-like account of the birth of Jesus.

The very last page says: "This edition of Lauren Ford's "The Ageless Story" printed by Ralph M. Duenewald, is limited to three hundred and fifty copies, of which this is copy number /2. The number 2 is handwritten with a fountain pen.

The artwork is beautiful, the colors rich. The left-side pages are filled with brief songs in Latin written out in ancient musical manuscript, with artwork that follows the story on the previous pages, with art frames around the pages.

It is hard believe this is as old as it is, so well is it preserved. There are few watery-looking spots on some of the outer pages and title page, and the outer box jacket is a bit faded, but that is all the age that shows. - from Amzon
